Hello, check out in this article how the formula for Projected Exit Weight is calculated.

Example 01

Taking the projection at 61 days as an example, we have:

For the projected weight based on the average entry weight:

The projected weight based on the average entry weight, when the average entry age is LESS than the age for weight projection.

AverageEntryWeight + ProjectedWeightGain(61 days)

For the projected weight based on the average exit weight:

If there are no recorded exits, we cannot project the weight, so the projected weight equals zero.

The projected weight based on the average exit weight, when the average exit age is GREATER than the age for weight projection.

AverageExitWeight - ProjectedWeightGain(61 days)

Example 02

If I want to project the weight at 61 days and the average exit age is 70.6.

Considering that the average exit age > age for projection, we add the A.D.G. (Average Daily Gain) from the growth table covering days 62 to 71 (only 60% of the value). The result is the projected weight gain.

Projected weight based on the average exit weight when the average exit age is LESS than the age for weight projection:
AverageExitWeight + ProjectedWeightGain(61 days)

Example 03

If I want to project the weight at 61 days and the average exit age is 57.45.

Considering that the average exit age < age for projection, we add the A.D.G. (Average Daily Gain) from the daily growth table covering day 58 (only 55% of the value) to 61 days. The result is the projected weight gain.

If exits have been recorded in the analyzed period and the average exit age equals the age for weight projection:

Projected weight = AverageExitWeight

Where:

  • AverageEntryWeight: The average weight of the animals entering the phase or batch.
  • AverageExitWeight: The average weight of the animals exiting the phase or batch.
  • ProjectedWeightGain: The projected weight gain is calculated based on the farm-defined growth table.
  • (61 days): The number of days being used as a reference for the calculation. This could be 60 days, 58 days, 65 days, etc.
