Hello, check out some frequently asked questions about the Farrowing stage.
Why is the balance of piglets in the farrowing stage different from the total stock of piglets on my Farrowing Map?
The farrowing map displays as a balance the total number of piglets that entered the farrowing alive, minus the number of animals that left or died from the sows in this stage. The farrowing stock is the sum of the INFORMED piglets recognized at the sows' feet. This means that when moving piglets in the farrowing stage without specifying the donor or recipient sow, this number differs from the actual total number of piglets in the stage.
What can I do to ensure the values do not diverge? How should I record them?
In every piglet movement in the system, it is necessary to record from which sow these piglets are coming (who is the donor sow) and where they are going (who is the recipient sow), preferably in the same entry if possible.
I cannot always record all movements this way on my farm. How can I correct the stock?
If, after recording all movements and counting the number of piglets in the physical farrowing house, the number of piglets in stock is still not accurate, you can perform a Inventory adjustment (In: Management > Farrowing > Data Entry > Inventory Adjustment).
